| POWELTEC can provide a "full" package for the design of an industrial pilot, involving fast-track reservoir modeling (using advanced IFP simulation software), laboratory study, surface facility scheme, selection of best product and field assistance.

| Daqing (CNPC, China, 1985-2005). Daqing is a unique polymer flood project implemented at a very large field scale. CNPC selected IFP polymer team for the feasibility study of the EOR project, involving laboratory study to optimize product and injection scheme and reservoir simulations for the evaluation of the first pilot.

| Pelican Lake (CSR/PCP/CNRL, Canada, 1995-2005) is the first polymer flood project using horizontal wells and implemented in a heavy-oil field (oil viscosity = 1000-2000cP). The reservoir is made of unconsolidated sand with high permeability (k > 1000 mD). A first polymer pilot launched in 1997 by CS Resources failed due to operational problems. A second pilot made of two injectors and 3 producers started in 2005 with a better control of operational conditions. According to David Payne, vice-president of exploitation, a field extension has been scheduled by CNRL in 2006.

| Offshore application (Western Africa, 2005). A new giant polymer flood project is under evaluation in an offshore field. IFP polymer team was selected by the operator to perform the coreflood studies related to polymer injection. The first results based on reservoir simulations and laboratory experiments (bulk solution and coreflood experiments in different rock types) seem to be very attractive. This would be the first full field offshore polymer injection and indeed the first deep offshore EOR implementation.
