Water Shutoff

Water Shutoff - Sand Control - Polymer Flooding

Treatment design combines near-wellbore simulations and laboratory coreflood experiments at reservoir conditions. The mechanism of action is through a selective reduction of the relative permeability to water with respect to the relative permeability to oil or to gas (RPM effect), thus minimizing the risk of well impairment. RPM technology is very well suited for WSO treatment of production wells in heterogeneous/multilayer formations. The polymer invades high-k water zones preferentially, thus reducing water influx , with low impact on oil/gas permeability.

IFP WSO processes have been successfully applied in various field situations, i.e., gas wells, multi-layer water-flooded wells (mostly in Russian fields), heavy-oil horizontal wells, offshore gravel-pack wells, etc. STARGEL technology, which consists of injection of stable size-control-led microgels, is also well suited for the
conformance treatment of injection wells.
